Content editor in Content Designer

Manage and edit all elements of a Content Designer activity directly in the content editor.

Updated over a week ago

The content editor lists all existing elements of a Content Designer activity. You can add, configure, and rearrange elements. To open the content editor, view a Content Designer activity and select Content editor in the activity navigation bar.

Note: Depending on the installed tier (Basic or Pro) and any additional installed plugins that integrate with Content Designer, different element types are available in the content editor.

Available actions

When you click the plus icon between existing elements, a modal window opens showing all available element types. You can select one to insert at that position.

Each element has different actionable icons, depending on its type:

  • Pen icon – Edit the title of the element.

  • Gear icon – Open the settings of the element.

  • Bin icon – Delete the element.

  • Arrow icons – Move the element up or down in the sequence.

  • Eye icon – Hide the element from students.

  • Duplicate icon – Create a copy of the element directly below it.

  • Calendar icon (Polls only) – View recorded responses for the poll.

Exceptions and special rules

    • Their position in the activity cannot be changed.

    • They cannot be deleted or duplicated.

  • The outro element:

    • Cannot be hidden. If you leave its content blank in the settings, it simply won’t be displayed.

    • Its title can only be configured in the general settings.

  • The table of contents:

    • Has no editable title.

Note: By hiding content or adding restrictions, you can control what students see when they view the Content Designer activity. Keep in mind that as an admin or teacher, you will still see the restricted content when viewing the activity.
