Chapters in Content Designer

Structure content into meaningful sections with chapters inside a Content Designer activity.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Overview

Chapters help you structure your Content Designer activity by grouping different elements into clear sections. This makes long activities easier to navigate for learners and improves the overall experience.

You can insert a new chapter in the content editor. Once added, this will bring you straight to the chapter’s settings.

Chapter element settings

  • Display title

Enable this setting to display the chapter title to learners. If disabled, the title is only used internally (e.g. in the editor or reports), and learners will not see it.

  • Visibility

Choose whether the chapter is visible or hidden.

  • Completion mode (Pro only)

Choose how learners mark the chapter as complete:

    • Manual – Students must click the Mark as complete button at the end of the chapter.

    • Automatic – The chapter is marked complete once the next chapter becomes visible (i.e. the learner scrolls past the current one).

  • Learning tools (Learning Tools plugin integration)

When enabled, learners will have access to additional tools like bookmarks and notes for each chapter.

Since chapters are only structuring elements, they do not include general layout, background, animation, or responsive settings.
